Quick answer: Choose Helium 10 if you want keyword research, listing optimization and PPC tools in one suite and can handle a steeper learning curve. Choose Jungle Scout if you are newer to Amazon, want product research and supplier search with a simpler interface, or want the lower entry price. Selling only on Shopify? You need neither.

If you are weighing Helium 10 against Jungle Scout, you are probably planning to sell on Amazon, or you already do and want better data than guesswork. Both tools help you find products, research keywords and track competitors. They differ in where they are strongest, how they charge, and how users rate their billing and support.

This comparison is written as of October 2026 and is based on public pricing pages, plan details, store listings and published user reviews. We did not run hands-on lab tests, and we do not claim to have. Where a number could not be confirmed on an official page, we say so. ecomstart.io is a Shopify-focused publication, so we also cover when neither tool makes sense for you.

What each tool actually is

Helium 10 in brief

Helium 10 is a suite of Amazon seller tools. Its best-known pieces include Black Box for product discovery, Xray for sizing up a niche while you browse Amazon, Cerebro for reverse-searching the keywords a competitor ranks for, and Magnet for keyword ideas. Higher tiers add AI listing tools, advertising automation and profit reporting. Its pricing page describes support for 24+ marketplaces and 4.5 million brands, both vendor-reported figures. Its Chrome extension listing describes support for Amazon and Walmart sellers, plus TikTok Shop features, and shows more than a million users with a 4.1 rating from 771 ratings, last updated September 29, 2026.

Jungle Scout in brief

Jungle Scout sells two product lines. Catalyst is aimed at sellers under $1 million in annual revenue and is the one most readers of this article will use. Cobalt is an enterprise platform for larger brands, with custom pricing and a demo process. Catalyst includes a Product Database, Opportunity Finder, Keyword Scout, Product Tracker, Supplier Database, Rank Tracker, Listing Builder, review automation and advertising analytics, with exact access depending on the plan.

If you want to look at either one before reading further, here are the official sites: Helium 10 and Jungle Scout.

Product research

This is where most people start, and it is where Jungle Scout built its reputation. Catalyst gives you a searchable Product Database, an Opportunity Finder that surfaces product and keyword ideas, and a Sales Estimator, with monthly search or estimate allowances that rise by plan. Starter caps you at 100 Product Database searches and 100 Opportunity Finder searches a month. Growth Accelerator and Brand Owner lift those limits and add data exports and longer historical trend windows. For a first-time seller, having the product database, supplier lookup and tracking in one place with a fairly plain interface is a real advantage.

Helium 10 covers the same ground with Black Box and Xray. Black Box lets you filter a product database by sales, price, reviews and competition, while Xray overlays estimates directly on Amazon search and product pages. Many sellers like the speed of working inside Amazon with the extension. The tradeoff is breadth: there are many tools and modules, and new users often report needing time to learn which one answers which question.

On accuracy, Jungle Scout has published its own study claiming 84.1 percent sales estimate accuracy against 74 percent for Helium 10, and a closer match to Amazon’s Search Query Performance data for keyword volume. That study appears in a vendor-written Jungle Scout article that shows a 2024 date, and we found no independent test confirming it. Treat any estimate from either tool as a directional signal, not a sales report. Cross-check against your own numbers once you start selling.

Edge: slight lead to Jungle Scout for beginners and supplier discovery; Helium 10 is competitive and often faster inside Amazon.

Keyword research

Keyword research is where Helium 10 has the stronger reputation. Cerebro reverse-lookups a competitor ASIN to show which keywords it ranks for, and Magnet generates related terms from a seed keyword. Keyword workflows then feed straight into its listing and advertising tools. If your plan involves winning on search rank and ad targeting, that chain is the draw.

Jungle Scout’s Keyword Scout does the core job well: search volume, trend data and, on higher plans, sponsored and PPC data and longer history. Starter allows 50 Keyword Scout searches a month, Growth Accelerator 250, and Brand Owner is listed without that cap. Rank Tracker, which monitors where your listings sit for chosen keywords, starts at Growth Accelerator with 500 keywords and rises to 5,000 on Brand Owner.

Edge: Helium 10 for depth of keyword workflows; Jungle Scout is perfectly adequate for most new sellers.

Listing optimization

Both tools help you write and score listings. Jungle Scout offers a Listing Builder and a Listing Analyzer (50 analyses a month on Growth Accelerator, 300 on Brand Owner), and an AI Assist feature that is chat-only on Starter and allows 100 or 500 uses a month on higher plans. Helium 10’s pricing page lists an AI Listing Builder integrated with Keyword Research, and it sits in the Diamond plan rather than the entry Platinum plan, which lists product research, keyword research, basic performance tracking and limited profit reporting.

If you are optimizing dozens of listings and want one workflow from keyword to copy to ranking, Helium 10’s Diamond tooling is built for that. If you are optimizing a handful, Jungle Scout’s tools are enough.

Edge: Helium 10 Diamond for volume and depth, at a higher price; roughly even for a small catalog.

PPC and advertising

This is the clearest functional gap at the Catalyst level. Helium 10’s Diamond plan lists rules-based ad automation and dayparting plus manual bid and budget control options. The entry Platinum plan does not list them. Jungle Scout Catalyst provides advertising analytics and negative keyword harvesting on Growth Accelerator and Brand Owner, which helps you review and clean up campaigns but is not the same as automated campaign management. Jungle Scout’s enterprise Cobalt platform does include PPC management, bid optimization and dayparting, but Cobalt is built for businesses above $1 million in annual revenue and priced by custom quote.

Reviewers on Trustpilot also mention a fee for ad spend management tied to Helium 10’s advertising tool, so read the terms of any ad-automation feature before enabling it and watch for add-on charges.

Edge: Helium 10 Diamond for advertising-heavy sellers, but only at the $279 to $359 tier.

Analytics, profit and operations

Jungle Scout’s Growth Accelerator and Brand Owner plans add Sales Analytics, an Inventory Manager, FBA reimbursement tracking and a Supplier Tracker. Helium 10 lists inventory management, profit and loss reporting and a managed refund service in Diamond, with only basic performance tracking and limited profit reporting in Platinum. At the upper tiers the two suites overlap more than they differ. If your priority is a clean view of margin by product, go through the feature list of the exact plan you are considering line by line, because analytics access varies by tier.

Edge: roughly even.

Browser extensions

Both tools lean on a Chrome extension for the quickest workflow. Helium 10’s listing shows Xray, keyword tools, an ASIN and UPC grabber, a profitability calculator and supplier matching. Jungle Scout’s extension, for Chrome and Firefox, is used to evaluate products, forecast sales and request reviews. If you research while browsing Amazon, test the extension first.

Ease of use

Jungle Scout is generally the easier starting point. Its plan structure is simple, its core tools map to a clear seller journey (find a product, find a supplier, launch, track), and its interface is less crowded. Helium 10 gives you more tools, and that breadth is both its strength and its onboarding cost. New sellers who sign up for a large suite and use two of its tools are paying for features they do not need.

Edge: Jungle Scout.

Support and billing reputation

This section matters more than most comparison articles admit. On Trustpilot, as read on October 6, 2026, Helium 10 shows 2.1 out of 5 across 713 reviews, with complaints clustering around price increases, plan changes and removed features, billing and renewal disputes, and refund denials. Some reviewers also praise the breadth of the tool suite. Jungle Scout shows 4.1 out of 5 across 3,940 reviews, with praise for helpful support and value for beginners, and complaints about cancellation and refunds, data accuracy and plan changes.

Keep perspective. Trustpilot attracts people with a grievance, and both companies have unhappy reviewers. But the gap is wide, and it is consistent with a pattern worth planning around: read the renewal terms, put the renewal date in your calendar, and know the refund window before you pay. Jungle Scout states a 7-day money-back guarantee on its standard Catalyst plans. For Helium 10, one 2026 competitor guide says annual plans are not refundable after the first month, which we could not verify, so confirm the current policy at checkout.

Edge: Jungle Scout, on public reviews.

Pricing and value

Jungle Scout publishes clear Catalyst pricing. Billed annually, Starter is $29 per month ($348 a year), Growth Accelerator is $49 per month ($588 a year) and Brand Owner is $129 per month ($1,548 a year). Billed monthly, the same plans are $49, $79 and $149. Brand Owner includes three seats, Starter and Growth Accelerator include one, and extra seats on eligible plans are listed at $459 per seat. There is no free trial, but there is a 7-day money-back guarantee.

Helium 10 publishes three tiers. Platinum is $99 per month billed yearly or $129 billed monthly, aimed at sellers with up to $100,000 in yearly sales. It lists product research, keyword research, basic performance tracking, limited profit reporting and education (Amazon FBA training, Amazon Ads academy and TikTok Shop academy). Diamond, labeled “Most Popular”, is $279 per month billed yearly or $359 billed monthly, for $100,000 to $10 million in yearly sales. It adds a Helium AI Agent, the Helium 10 MCP (free up to 1,000 calls), an AI Listing Builder, rules-based ad automation and dayparting, manual bid and budget control, inventory management, profit and loss reporting, a managed refund service, long-term keyword trend analysis, monthly workshops and expert webinars. Enterprise starts at $1,499 per month billed annually, for sellers beyond $10 million in yearly sales. The page shows a “Pay yearly (save up to 20%)” toggle, no Starter plan, and no free plan. Prices are in US dollars with taxes added at checkout.

Third-party guides report that Helium 10 retired its Starter plan in April 2026. The current page shows Platinum as the entry point, so the cheapest way in is now $99 per month on yearly billing.

Bar chart comparing Jungle Scout Starter and Brand Owner prices with Helium 10 Platinum and Diamond prices on yearly and monthly billing
Entry and top self-serve plan prices per month, from both vendors’ pricing pages, October 2026.

The like-for-like comparison is clear. At entry level, Jungle Scout Starter is $29 per month billed annually or $49 monthly, against $99 or $129 for Helium 10 Platinum. At the top self-serve level, Jungle Scout Brand Owner is $129 or $149, against $279 or $359 for Helium 10 Diamond. Jungle Scout is cheaper at both levels. The gap narrows only if you will use Diamond’s AI, listing and ad automation tools heavily and would otherwise buy separate software for them. If you only need product research, paying for a bigger suite makes little sense. Compare the plan you would actually use, not the headline price.

Marketplaces and geography

Jungle Scout Catalyst is compatible with Amazon marketplaces in the United States, Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy and Spain, with some features limited to the U.S. It also has partial compatibility with the Netherlands, Turkey, India, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Japan, Australia, Singapore and Brazil. Helium 10’s pricing page says it supports 24+ marketplaces, a vendor-reported figure, and its extension listing mentions Amazon and Walmart sellers and TikTok Shop features, which may matter if you sell beyond Amazon. We did not see a per-country feature list, so check your marketplace before buying.

Editorial scorecard

Scorecard rating Helium 10 and Jungle Scout from one to five across product research, keywords, listings, PPC, analytics, ease of use, support reputation and value
Our editorial scores from public information. They are judgments, not benchmarks.

We scored each tool from one to five across eight areas. The scores reflect public plan details and published reviews, not our own testing, and reasonable people could score some rows differently. We deliberately do not add them into a single winner. The right tool depends on which rows matter to you.

Choose Helium 10 if…

  • You want keyword research, AI listing tools and ad automation in one subscription, and you will use them weekly. Note that ad automation sits in Diamond ($279 per month billed yearly).
  • You manage a larger catalog and the keyword-to-listing-to-ads chain will save you real hours.
  • You sell on Walmart or want TikTok Shop features alongside Amazon, or you want broader marketplace coverage than Jungle Scout’s eight full Amazon marketplaces.
  • You are comfortable with a bigger interface and will read the billing terms and set renewal reminders.

If that sounds like you, see the current Helium 10 plans and match the tier to the features you need before you decide. Our separate Helium 10 review goes deeper on the tools themselves.

Choose Jungle Scout if…

  • You are new to Amazon and want a clear path from product idea to supplier to launch.
  • You want the lower entry price, especially on annual billing, with a published price list.
  • Your main job is product research and tracking, not heavy advertising automation.
  • You sell mainly in the United States, Canada or major European Amazon marketplaces.
  • Support and billing reputation weigh heavily in your decision.

If that fits, compare the Jungle Scout Catalyst plans and remember the 7-day money-back window starts when you buy. Brands above $1 million in annual revenue should look at Cobalt instead, which requires a demo.

Decision flowchart: if you sell on Amazon choose Helium 10 for keyword depth and ad automation, Jungle Scout for product research, or start with Jungle Scout Starter if unsure

When you need neither

Both tools are built around Amazon. If your store runs on Shopify and you do not sell on Amazon, a $29 to $129 monthly subscription is hard to justify. Shopify product research is a different job: you are validating demand from ads, social trends and supplier catalogs rather than Amazon sales ranks. Start with our guides on finding winning products for dropshipping, Shopify spy tools, TikTok Creative Center product research and the best dropshipping niches.

If you already sell on both, our guides to Amazon and Shopify integration and importing products from Amazon to Shopify cover the practical steps. And if you are weighing a different channel, see TikTok Shop vs Shopify.

How to decide without wasting money

  1. Write down the one job you need done first. Finding a product, ranking a listing and running ads are different jobs. Pick the tool strongest at the first one.
  2. Start with the smallest plan that covers that job. Upgrading later is easy; getting a refund after a year is not.
  3. Check the refund window and renewal terms before you pay. Jungle Scout states 7 days. Confirm Helium 10’s current policy at checkout.
  4. Validate the first product with your own numbers. Treat tool estimates as a starting point and test with a small order.
  5. Re-check the price in three months. Both vendors have changed plans and prices before, and Helium 10 reportedly did so in April 2026.

Frequently asked questions

Is Helium 10 or Jungle Scout better for beginners?

Jungle Scout is usually the easier start. Its plans are simpler, its entry price is lower and its interface is less crowded. Helium 10 has more tools, which helps experienced sellers but can overwhelm a first-time user.

Which is cheaper, Helium 10 or Jungle Scout?

Jungle Scout, at both entry and top self-serve levels. Catalyst Starter is $29 per month billed annually or $49 billed monthly, against $99 or $129 for Helium 10 Platinum. Brand Owner is $129 or $149, against $279 or $359 for Helium 10 Diamond. Neither pricing page lists a free plan.

Does Jungle Scout have a free trial?

No. Jungle Scout states it does not offer a free trial, but it does offer a 7-day money-back guarantee on its standard Catalyst plans. You request the refund by emailing support within that window.

Which tool has better keyword research?

Helium 10 has the stronger reputation for keyword work, mainly through Cerebro and Magnet. Jungle Scout’s Keyword Scout and Rank Tracker are solid for most new sellers, but they are not as deep.

Which has better PPC tools?

Helium 10, if you buy Diamond. That plan lists rules-based ad automation, dayparting and manual bid and budget control, and the entry Platinum plan does not. Jungle Scout Catalyst offers advertising analytics and negative keyword harvesting, while full PPC management sits in its enterprise Cobalt platform.

Are Helium 10 and Jungle Scout sales estimates accurate?

Neither is exact. Jungle Scout has published a study claiming higher accuracy than Helium 10, but it is vendor-written and we found no independent confirmation. Use estimates to compare products against each other, then verify with a small test order.

Why is Helium 10’s Trustpilot rating so low?

Reviewers mostly cite price increases, plan and feature changes, billing and renewal disputes, and refund problems. Others praise the tool suite itself. Read the billing terms carefully and note your renewal date.

Can I use both tools together?

Yes, and some sellers do, for example using one for product discovery and another for keywords and ads. For most people it is cheaper to pick one, learn it well and add the other only if you hit a clear gap.

Final verdict

There is no universal winner. Helium 10 is the better fit for sellers who live in keywords, listings and advertising and are willing to manage a larger suite and read the billing terms closely. Jungle Scout is the better fit for new and growing sellers who want a simpler product research workflow, a published price list and a stronger public support reputation. If you only sell on Shopify, save your money and use Shopify-focused research instead.

When you are ready, check the current plans at Helium 10 and Jungle Scout, start with the smallest plan that covers your first job, and keep the refund window in mind.
